 Word for the Week

"I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where, O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction?"
Hosea 13 v 14

2 Years Old! (Posted by Aidan on  02/10/2006)
I completely missed out September then, which is odd, seeing as September is quite an important month in the CB calander.  It was indeed in September 2004 (around the 14th - being as organised as I am, I forgot, foolishly, to note down the exact date) that ChristianBikers started.  Thus making ChristianBikers over 2 Years Old!  So, I'd like to post a big happy birthday to us.
A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!!
There, now that is done.  The Office has now also moved daaaahn saaaaaaf (that's, down south) to Guildford, right on the very north edge of the North Downs, which has some brilliant riding!  And it's right near the Good Ol' Jumps Of Wisely!  Watch this space!!!  (You know what for!)  Take care, GodBless, and keep riding!

Tour de Britain (Posted by Aidan on  24/08/2006)
It's that time of year again!  When us Brits try and out do the French at their own game, and even practically use their name!  We're so great!
Yes, it's the Tour Of Britain!  Six Stages, starting in Scotland in Stage 1 and ending up with a dramatic 20-lap race around The Mall and past the front of Buckingham Palace in The Final Stage, taking in the best of Scotland, the Northwest, Yorkshire, West Midlands, and the Southeast.  Taking place over six days (29th August - 3rd September), it promises to be a good one!  Get yourself to it if you can!  (I can't I'll be in Hong Kong then...)
For more information, go to www.TourofBritain.co.uk and try and get down there!  That's all for now.  Keep checking back for more news!  GodBless.
Injuries and Updates (Posted by Aidan on  03/08/2006)

FABIEN BAREL IS OUT FOR THE SEASON!
The 2 time world champ has broken a bone in his foot, after slipping a pedal and consequently getting his foot caught between the ground and the pedal.  Ouch.  It's only a small bone that has broken, but the injury is massive.  It'll need at least 2 months to heal with no weight on the bone or foot, and he wont be back on his bike for 3 months minimum.
Barel said, "It's all part of the rule in bike racing. It's been a very tough season mentally. I feel like I have been riding very well but have no paper to show for it,"
He has masses of support from both team mates and managers, along with fans all over the world.  Which is to be expected really.  "Fabien has been riding as well, if not better than I have ever seen him ride. It's a shame he's out and won't get to prove it. The results this year certainly don't represent his abilities." Tracy Moseley, fellow Kona team mate, remarked.
Mark Peterson, team manager and friend, said, "This is not the first time we've had injured riders. At this level of the sport it is bound to happen sometime during their career, you just hope it's not something that will end their career. Fabien will be back next year in Kona colors and I'm sure he'll be on a mission to prove he remains one of the best riders in the world."
Are prayers for healing and comfort are with you Fabien at this time.
JOSH BENDER UPDATE
If you are wondering whatever happened to Josh Bender after he broke his ankle which we mentioned on here a while ago...well, I have a very delayed answer.
He is on the way to recovery!  After the incident, Mr. Bender was riushed to hospital (of course) where his ankle was rebuilt.  And although he complained that his back was in pain, the doctors said he was fine, and sent him home.  He then returned t the hospital later on when his back was in unbearable pain.  It was discovered that he had a burst L2, and the surgeons in Provo fused his spine together between L1 and L3 (don't ask!).
After his orginal fears after the crash, and the mechanism of the injury, Bender is lucky to be on the road to recovery.  In his words, "I thought I was in a wheelchair for life dude".
The doctors have been pleasantly surprised at his recovery, and soon he will be able to walk and start rehab.  But then there is likely to be yet more surgery to remove bits of metal and hardware from his ankle, and that may keep him off his bike for the longest.  Recntly though, the man himself has just been chilling out and spending quality time with his family and friends in Alaska, enjoying the scenery, watching movies and a variety of other things.
With all the ambulance rides, surgery, rehab, intensive care, and flights to Provo have dug a deep hole in his pocket financially.  Keep Josh and his family in your prayers, for healing of his back and ankle, and for his financial 'problems'.  We'll keep you posted when we know more.

Welcome!
